This goes to show you that if you don't succeed the first time, try again.. I can't exactly remember what I ordered the previous time, but wasn't fitting my pallet. Service was fantastic though. Clean, love the atmosphere. I was in the mood for a Mediterranean salad, Got the Date salad with chicken and it was phenomenal. I'll be back for sure.

Disclaimer: this is a mainly Persian food style restaurant. Idk why the owner is whitewashing the name (it's definitely NOT Mediterranean in the sense you're thinking) and the titles of the foods (wtf is wrong with fesenjoon, ghormeh sabzi, and koobideh??) because a Persian place like this in OC would HIT and puts pathetic establishments like hen house to shame. Big portions, relatively low prices, and delicious khoresht (stews). Highly recommended

I recently had a amazing meal at Basil. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff were friendly and attentive, and made us feel right at home. We started with the hummus, which was creamy and delicious. It came with warm pita bread that was fresh and perfectly toasted. For our main course, we shared the mixed grill platter which included chicken, lamb, and beef. The meats were all perfectly cooked and so flavorful. We also had the tabbouleh salad and the stuffed grape leaves, both of which were fresh and delicious. To top it all off, we had the baklava for dessert, which was the perfect ending to our meal. It was sweet and nutty, and had just the right amount of flakiness. Overall, I would highly recommend this Basil Mediterranean to anyone looking for delicious food and a great atmosphere. The combination of fantastic food, friendly staff, and beautiful decor made for an unforgettable dining experience. I can't wait to go back!

**** HIDDEN GEM ALERT **** Prior Pandemic, I would cater from Basil Mediterranean Grill all the time for work events and lunches but never dining at the restaurant. I normally order for pick-up since we have a million things to do. Recently I was able to dine-in and everything was what I expected...just as amazing as the foods I catered. This time I wasn't able to dine-in but ordered for pick-up. Called at 8pm and arrived at 8:15pm and was told on the phone come in 20 mins. The food was ready when I walked in. I love ordering the "Family Combo $40" which comes with 6 Skewers + Greek Salad + Basmati Rice. What a great deal, the portions are big and everything was delicious. The meats are always and I mean always juicy and tender. Salads are always clean, not the soggy/wilted mix you often get when you get a free salad. I always upgrade my Basmati Rice to the Barberry Rice. The Barberry Rice is buttery goodness with a hint of tart since the Barberries are tart. The rice is fluffy and amazing. Tomatoes, Onions and Bell Peppers are grilled to perfection each time. At other places, I get the "VERY" Charred veggies that just taste awful. This combo feeds 4 adults in my family and with a plate for next day. I am a bit biased to this restaurant now. I would rotate between here and Irvine Café (which has closed down months ago) but since Irvine Café closed down, Basil Mediterranean Grill is my only place I go when I crave Mediterranean Foods. FOOD/PRICE - Always amazing and you get huge portions for the price. I think they are such a great deal/bang for your buck! Food is prepared when you order and it's amazingly CONSISTENT every time. I've tried almost everything and everything is GREAT. Hats off to the Chef and Owner. LOCATION/PARKING - In a tiny "Nondescript" plaza just before you hit W 19th Street/Harbor. Its in the same plaza as Cosmo Prof Hair Store & Australian Sports Nutrition. Few parking spots in the front but just go straight to the back, there are more spots available. Most customers don't know there's a back parking lot. CUSTOMER SERVCE - There's usually 1-2 servers working and staff is always friendly and attentive. Great service every time I've visited. VERDICT - One if not now my FAVE Mediterranean Restaurants in OC. If you are in the area, give them a try or order their "Family Combo" deal for pick-up. Their food just tastes so fresh and healthy.

This was the best Mediterranean food I've had. Everything was prepared so well & even the presentation was lovely. I decided to dine in and noticed that they are very popular and busy yet our server, Genesis, was pleasant, calm, and apologetic about the wait. All of the food I ordered tasted amazing. The falafel was perfectly crisp on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside. Their spicy hummus is extremely spicy- like an 8/10, but super tasty. The pita bread came out warm and soft- delicious! The tabouleh did not disappoint either, it was freshly prepared. There is a small bar with a nice white and red wine selection & even Prosecco. It is located in a small business center and parking appears to be limited. There are plenty of nice booth and table seating inside. I am looking forward to coming back for the food.

Service is top notch. Inside dining is calming, quiet and relaxing. There is parking in back if the front spaces are full. Lots of menu options! I can't get past the split pea stew. Recently tried the herb stew and now I think I'll have to order both because both are too good to choose just one. There a bonus in the stews - dried lime I've also tried sample of the pomegranate stew... sweet and savory all in one. Salad is always fresh. Rice is insanely aromatic and addictive. Perfect neighborhood gem. Prices are super reasonable.
